Our First Wedding Shoot...

This post digresses from the whole theme of this blog although just recently we decided that this will be more of a peek at what's going on with us 3 and our respective families.

A couple of weeks ago, Angel and I shot our first event together. It was a 50th Wedding Anniversary of a couple I met through my business partner. My 2 partners couldn't make it as they shot another wedding in Cancun (of which I was voted out via a coin-toss since the client could only pay for 2 photographers). At first I was quite bummed that I didn't go to Cancun but this event which almost just fell into my lap, more than made up in terms of how fun the experience was.

I was about to call my other friends to assist me on this shoot when I thought about taking Angel along. She doesn't hold the camera very often but she's the one I turn to when picking out photographs to give to a client. After all, a woman's natural attention to detail comes in really handy when choosing photos. The few times she's held a camera, I noticed that she has a natural eye for a good composition - something that you can't really teach. It was then I decided to actually take her to the shoot with me. Also, a day before the event, Mike's (Lyndee's husband) nephew, Christopher wanted to tag-along as well for free. A crew of 3 is just about right when going out for big events like this. There are so many things that go on in an event that it is impossible to capture all of them with just one eye. After viewing the first few photos in our laptop, I knew I had two very able 2nd and 3rd shooters with me. All in all it was not only a great experience as photographers but it was fun to be around such a hospitable and close-knit family for an entire day. One of the reasons I wanted to shoot this event was how special this event is, being a Golden Wedding Anniversary - a rare occurrence these days.
