4th of July 2008

We were invited to spend this year's 4th of July celebration at the Arlington Sisters' home in Torrance - Angel's former home. It was Rafael's first 4th of July celebration so we were naturally excited for him (though he probably didn't care if we stayed home or went out). Right when walked in the door, he was swarmed by all the ladies as he was the only baby guest. Angel's friends took turns taking care of him, allowing us to enjoy the sumptuous meal they prepared. Dinuguan, grilled liempo, fish, oyster and porkchop. Sides of pinoy salad (mango, tomato, onion) with bagoong. We even got some to-go. All in all it was worth the 50+ mile drive from RSM.

At exactly 9 PM, the fireworks started going off one after the other. Rafael was surprisingly relaxed seated at her Mom's lap watching the festivities. We thought he was gonna back away from the sound of the fireworks but instead, fell asleep halfway into it!

Here are a few photos I took from where we were:

Here's one with everyone from the Arlington Household.
